Silvatec™ is a highly effective cleansing bar delivering a powerful long lasting antimicrobial action. The technology used in Silvatec™ has been developed from a highly sophisticated science used and approved by the healthcare industry internationally.

What does it do?

Silvatec™ contains Corglaes®Ag, a unique mineral based polymer that releases antimicrobial silver ions during the washing process. The combination of ingredients in Silvatec™ provides both a moisturising barrier and antimicrobial protection.

How does it work?

Corglaes®Ag, is a unique mineral based polymer formulated to provide an optimum and continuous release of silver ions. The silver is held in oxygen bridges within the structure of the polymer. It is released onto the skin as these bridges are hydrolysed on exposure to water during washing. These silver ions have antimicrobial properties.
The ions deposit on the skin surface and form an oligo-dynamic balance with the skin providing long lasting antimicrobial protection.

Independent testing has demonstrated that silver ions deposited onto skin have a long lasting effect against a range of pathogenic micro-organisms.
In order to maintain an effective antimicrobial action a continuous supply of fresh silver ions is required. A single wash will provide this supply of active ions. As skin cells are continuously renewed and dead cells shed, then regular washing with Silvatec™ will help maintain that supply.

Many antimicrobial products remove naturally occurring oils from the skin surface. Whilst these products provide short term antimicrobial protection the removal of these oils can lead to drying, soreness and the potential for re-infection.
Silvatec™ includes ingredients that moisturise and help improve skin feel. In combination with the released silver ions the effect is to supplement the skin's natural balance and provide antimicrobial protection.

Why use Silvatec™?

Poor hygiene is a nationwide problem with more and more people becoming ill due to the spread of harmful bacteria particularly in areas such as hospitals, schools, homes and the workplace. Leading health experts now recommend the use of soap and water combined with a specific thorough hand washing regime to help limit the spread of harmful bacteria.

Alcohol based products are currently widely used in the healthcare profession. However some hardy bacterial spores are not destroyed by this means and bacteria continues to spread. In addition regular use of alcohol based rubs can strip the protective sebum from the skin and this can lead to drying, soreness and create the potential for re-infection.
Silvatec™ Cleansing Bar has all the properties of a traditional bar of soap but with the added benefit of silver ions to kill 99.9% of germs. The combination of soap and water allows dirt and bacteria to be washed away. When exposed to water the pure silver ions are released on to the skin’s surface. With regular use the silver remains on the skin to provide an effective and long lasting microbial barrier. Unlike alcohol based products, the skin’s surface is left feeling clean, smooth and moisturised.
